OL 2003 Printer selection

OL 2003 will only print a message to the default printer.
The print dialog box has grayed out the printer selection
box. Is this a BUG or a new feature??

To select which printer to print a specific email to,
first open the message. When you print with the message
open, the printer selection is enabled.

AFAIK, this has always ben the case with outlook, and in
my view is a design deficiency!
