OL 2007 Journal and Existing Items

I have existing emails and notes that I would like to add to the journal.

I have checked the options under Contacts and see no option other than show
contact linking on all forms.

However, this is not available on existing emails or notes.

Is there a way to attach existing emails into the journal.

I have added the contact to the contact field under each email's options,
even though the email's address was selected from the contacts list.

No, there is no method that I know of to link existing items to the Journal, only newer items.
