OL closes on it's own

Using OL2000.

While I am using Outlook, everything is just fine. However, if I have
another program (any program, I've tried 2 dozen) in the foreground,
after a few minutes Outlook will close. No error message; not a crash.
It simply closes.

and yes, I have checked the Tools | Options | Mail delivery tab and made
sure that the boxes under Dial-up options are all unchecked (using a LAN
anyway).

Any idea why?

My other computers where I have OL2000 do not do this.

What OS are you running? Does the outlook.exe process still show in the Task
Manager? Is there anything logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

What OS are you running? Does the outlook.exe process still show in
the Task Manager? Is there anything logged to the Event Viewer
regarding this?

Win2000 Server, SP 4, build 2195.

No, outlook.exe is no longer in the task manager.

Nothing in the Event View looks even remotely close to Outlook.
