OL2002, Exch 2K - Copying Recurring Calendar Entries (Bug and Resolution!)

D

Deuchars

Hi,

Apologies for the x-post - not sure if this is a client or server issue.
I've looked around the various KBs and can't find any reference to a
repeatable bug I've found on Outlook 2002 / Exchange 2000. It's similar to
other 'non-deleting calendar entry' issues with a couple of key
differences - has anyone else come across this? :-

I'm referring to 2 mailboxes on an Exchange 2000 server - one is my personal
mailbox (called 'Andy'), the other is a 'generic' mailbox (called
'Generic'). My MAPI profile opens 'Andy' as the main Exchange mailbox and
'Generic' is added through Advanced -> Open These Additional Mailboxes.

If I create a normal calendar entry in my 'Andy' mailbox and copy it to the
'Generic' calendar (right click drag & drop -> Copy) then the entry copies
fine.

BUT...

If I create a *recurring* calendar entry in my 'Andy' mailbox (seems to be
more prolific for 'All Day Events' - 00:00 to 00:00) and copy it to the
'Generic' calendar (as above) - the entry doesn't show up in the 'Generic'
calendar at all. Unfortunately it *IS* there (the day shows as BOLD and if
I schedule conflicting appointments it reports on this). But I can't see
(or therefore delete) the appointment via OL2002. Tried multiple different
views / profiles / machines - same problem.

The only way I've found to delete the appointment is via Outlook Web Access,
by logging into the 'Generic' mailbox and deleting the item directly
(highlight, click 'Delete' button). Note that you can't Edit (Double
click -> Open Series) and Delete the item - it just says "The item could not
be found. It may have been deleted.".

BUT...

After completing the above the days *still* show up as busy within the
Outlook client. However, starting Outlook.exe with the CleanFreeBusy switch
(i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE"
/CleanFreeBusy) seems to sort this.

Gawd... 2 hours of my life down the pan. :)

Anyone else had this problem?

Andy
