OL2003 will not synchronize offline folders (with Exchange 2000)

I've upgraded from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 and now find that I
cannot synchronize my offline folders. The send/receive group I
created with OL2002 that worked OK does not work with OL2003. The only
way I can fix the problem is to create a new send/receive group. If I
copy an existing send/receive group I get the same problem.

I've tried reapply the folder options in my old send/receive group but
this doesn't help. If I press ctrl+F9, the folders synch but will not
update automatically if a new message is received into the folder.

For me, creating a new send/receive group is a big deal as I want to
rollout OL2003 (without cache mode) to a couple thousand laptop users
ahead of upgrading to Exchange 2003.

I've seen plenty of other posts with this problem but no real
solution. (Once again I don't want to recreate profiles or
send/receive groups for each user).

What exactly is the problem?

What are the send/receive settings for this group? Without cached mode, you
have to schedule automatic syncs in the background (when online and possibly
also when offline, depending on your needs). This is one thing cached mode
is much better at handling.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to use cached mode for the laptops...have
you tried it/tested it? It's very good.

The problem is when I do a send/receive, the offline message store is not
updated. So when I go offline it appears that messages are 'missing' from
folders when in fact the synchronization has not worked. When using OL2002,
this worked perfectly. Upgrading to OL2003 has caused this problem and it
appears to be a fault in the send/receive file (<profile_name>.srs).

We have send/receive configured with an online and an offline group so when
users are offline (dial-up), they can download headers only rather than the
full message, then select which messages they wish to fully download.

We will be going to cache mode when Exchange is upgraded to 2003 and some
consolidation is performed. In the meantime, I want to get the Outlook
client upgraded ahead of this.
