OL2007 B2 & WDS 2.5 - No Worky?

Long story short, I tried WDS 3.0 Preview/Instant Search and decided to
revert to trusty ol' WDS 2.5. However, WDS 2.5 does not seem to be picking
up any of my mail. Is this incompatibility "by design"?

Yep, WDS 2.x doesn't have compatibility with Outlook 2007. That starts with
WDS 3.0

Any idea when the WDS 3.0 GUI will be released? I'd like to use WDS 3.0 for
general file searching, but so far it only works with Outlook and OneNote.

I wouldn't expect it any sooner than Windows Vista and Office 2007 since
those application heavily depend on it. As long as they are in development
so will WDS. As for the GUI we would be talking about a backport to Windows
XP (as searching based on WDS 3 is native in Vista) and can be expected in
the final stages. My guess would be in the timeframe Vista goes gold for
business use and general customer availability (currently that is between
the end of November and end of February).
