Just went through all the lists and my root problem is Outlook installs fine,
I did a Upgrade from 2003 to 2007, all my settings are right... And no matter
what... It says it cannot connect to the server.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem.

I've deleted all the profiles and recreated them. Same problem. However,
when recreating the profile and adding the server and clicking "Check" to
lookup the mailbox, I get the error: An unknown error occurred, error code:
0x90040605

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I also have the same problem.
I am using outlook 2007 and exchange server 2003.
At first, it stated that default gateway can not be empty, then after I
enter my own ip to the default gateway field I can reach the server but it
keeps asking user name and password for authentication.
When using outlook 2003, everything is ok.
Any solution?

are you using a pst or exchange mailbox? pst's are not supported against
exchange in this build due to potential data loss, you'll need to use the
exchange mailbox.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your response.
Everytime outlook 2007 starts, it will try to connect to my exchange
mailbox, but it always ask for user and password.
My computer doesn't join domain.
Is it a must to join domain for making connection to exchange with outlook
2007?

a Will PST's be allowed in future release? Since we only can have a 200 meg
exchange file on our server, it fills up pretty quick.
thanks

We don't know yet. You can always copy or move items from a mailbox to a PST
file or archive.

None of these problems are mine. It seems Voltus can get further than I can.
I can't even get to first base connecting to exchange!

Tried on another PC and same exact problem!

Can you ping your EX server by name? Does it help if you add a Hosts entry
for your server?

Is IMAP set up for your EX server? If so can you create a new profile with
an IMAP account?

Would you be willing to run an LDAP query from your workstation and allow it
to be submitted to MS?

Ok,

This issue can be closed out. I deleted all the exchange profiles and
recreating them while connected to the LAN, and all is working. I'll
recreate another thread on the root cause of this one, because it's different
in scope.

Thanks!
