OLAP cube fails to build indicating SQL Server does not exist...

Hi everyone,

Our OLAP cube is failing with the following error message:

The cube scheduled to be built on 9/20/2006 at 11:15 AM failed.
(-2147467259) [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not
exist or access denied.

The interesting part of this issue is the cube will complete successfully
and without any errors when we the time frame falls for just below six weeks;
anything above that throws the above error.

Some of the KB Articles we’ve tried include:
1- 912259 (didn’t work)
2- 837653 (didn’t work)
3- 328306 (client –related causes, registry settings and Network Utility did
not work either)
4- 888228 (hard-coded TCP\IP address, no dice)

Service Packs and versions are:
a. MS Project Server 2003 with SP2
b. Analysis Services lives together with MS Project Server.
c. Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 2003 with SP1 (across the board)
d. SQL Server and Analysis Services are version 2000 with SP4 (SQL DB Server
has Post SP4 hot-fix #2187 and lives on a separate box).
e. Sessions and Views live on a separate box from MS Project

Let me know what other information I could offer to better explain our
situation, and thank you in advance for your help!

Jose:

Is that the only error you see in the server application event log? Does
your SQL server have ample disk space? Does the system behave differently
when you manually kickoff a cube build versus a scheduled build?
