OLAP Cube isn't building nightly as scheduled

We are on PS 2003 with SP2. We have the OLAP scheduled to update nightly
which it has done until just recently. There are no error messages, it just
doesn't do it any more. I have to update manually which is time consuming.
Any help in resolving this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not certain but this may have quit running about the time daylight
savings time began (which was earlier than in the past).

When you say that doing it manually works, do you mean from inside
PWA, or from Analysis Services?

And how do you know it is not working? Have you checked the Event Log
to see it trying to login?

I manually update it through PWA. PWA also indicates "current cube status"
which will tell, among other things, when (date and time) the cube as last
successfully built. It used to reflect the time each night that it was
scheduled, through PWA, to update. I have been checking that status daily to
see if it is updating as scheduled, which it hasn't, so then I update it
manually.

Our DBA has checked the error log and it is attempting to update. I have
sent another email to them to get more specifics in this area.

Thanks,
Jennifer

I heard back from the DBAs and they provided me with some info from the error
logs:

1. Error #: 14 Desc.: Cube didn't build because of security check failure
2. Error parsing the cube gen XML request. Security check failure
3. Failed to generate OLAP Cube for the following request:...
4. An error occurred calling CallViewGenerator...
5. Error Number: 0x5...invalid procedure call or argument

Errors have only showed up 3 times in the error logs since 4/6 but the cube
is scheduled to build nightly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The DBAs seem to be at a loss. I
have asked if they have checked with the sysadmins on the security check
issue.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Try one more thing. Change the build time to five minutes from now,
and see if that works. Perhaps there is a time-based issue, such as
the network or server going down at some point.

Thanks Brian. I'll give it a try.

we have faced this problem once and it was only solved by rebooting
the server
i know it seems silly but did you try to reboot the server?

The DBAs actually did this last Thursday and it did solve the problem.
