Olap cube updates - duration

Does anyone know how long it takes to update the olap cube? I recognize that
it varies pending users / data. I just need to know whether the variance will
be minutes, hours, or >.

I need to get daily updates and extract / synchronize that data with another
system. Ideally I'm hoping that the updates can be made in both systems
during the night and have a daily data refresh.

Mine takes about three minutes but there's only two projects, although one
has 4,000 tasks.

You are correct in can vary.
I have about 150 active projects of all various sizes and shapes. There are
probably about 200 more that are completed. I have about 200 active
resources in the resource pool. The server is a Dual PIII 1.7ghz with 2
gigs of RAM. It takes approximiately 58 minutes on average. I have seen it
vary by 12 minutes either way depending on the amount of updates.

Hope this gives you some level of measurement.
