OLAP Extension Risks Issues

I went through the installation process, apparently successfully. The 2 new
cubes are there. I updated the roles to give everyone access to the 2 new
cubes in addition to the original 3.

I can successfully design a Portfolio Analyzer View to show, for example
number of Issues by status for each project as a column chart. I save it,
apparently successfully but when I try to run it all the data fields have
gone. I can successfully recreate it while in view mode.

When I go back to review the View definition, sure enough, all the data
fields have gone.

What's the trick I'm missing?

So you are saying that you 'install' and the stuff is thre but when you
rebuild the cube the fields go away?

If that is the case did you change the code in the module that controls
the build process? Im not familiar with this particular extention but I do
know that if you do an OLAP extention and you do not modify some code (the
name of the file escapes me right now) that the build will not encompass
your new stuff. Did you double check the install\setup guide to make sure
you skipped nothing?

Thanks for the response Brian.

Yes - I followed the instructions and have double checked. The cube is
definitely being built successfully. I can see it if I do the build in
directly in Analysis Services and I can see real data in there whether I
build it that way or though Project Server.

While I'm building the Portfolio Analyzer view, I can see the data I expect
to see. I save the new view and when I come to use it, or reopen it in
modify mode, all the fields have disappeared.

It's as if it loses the connection to the data source. How can I get it to
remember that connection?

I've tried it using windows authentication to the data source (I'm an
administrator) and using authentication as the OLAP administrator. No
difference.

It's got me stumped.
