Old appointments being deleted in Outlook 2003

Hi

I just checked my Deleted Items folder in Outlook 2003 and a lot of my
appointments from the past year are in the folder. I don't have any
auto-archiving enabled.

Does Compacting the Personal Folders data file purge expired events /
appointments?? If so is there a way to disable this action??

Is there a way to restore the appointments that are in the Deleted
Items folder already?

I'm very nervous about this ... I refer back to past appointments
quite frequently.

This may have been a red herring. At one point sync'ing appointments
to my Palm TX failed and on the next pass Outlook created a lot of
duplicate appointments which I subsequently went through and deleted.
It looks like it was those deleted duplicate entries which were still
in my Deleted Items folder.
