Old calendar appointments are gone???

A

ApacheIndian

All my old calendar appointments from prior to this past week have
disappeared -- ??? I do auto archive but never before have such recent
appointments (e.g. two weeks ago and beyond) been archived, and I fear that
perhaps they're all lost.

Using the Help feature I tried this:
File>Import and Export>Import from another program or file>Personal Folder
File>... then I Browsed and selected the "archive.pst" file under
C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst. Then I hit Next and get this: "This
Personal Folder file (.pst) is already in use in the current profile."

Help please

D

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

go to the folder list (ctrl+6) and see if the archive folder is listed. look
in its calendar folder for the missing items.

Thanks for the reply Diane

Doing what you suggested pulled up a green Calendar for me -- but it doesn't
have the missing calendar appointments either.

I just don't understand how they could have disappeared. The only thing
different I did with my PC recently was run a defrag last week.

Help please

So I think I have an idea of what might have happened:
- Checking my green Archived Calendar again, I see that appointments prior
to Nov 2007 are there, but everything from that point till about 2 weeks ago
is gone
- I sync my MS Outlook Calendar with my BlackBerry's calendar
- A few days ago I noticed that my BB had used all of it's internal memory,
and when that happens, I believe it starts deleting stuff -- including
calendar appointments
- A sync with my BB after that point could have deleted everything off of my
PC's Outlook Calendar too (not good)

I'm not sure that this is how it went down but I think it's a possibility.

Surely there has to be a way to restore my Calendar appointments -- ???
Much thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Milly -- yes, I sync with my BlackBerry -- if you peruse my most recent

That is very likely what happened to the appointments. Unless they are in
the deleted items folder or you have a backup, they are gone.

Is the archive pst in your folder list? (Ctrl+6) if not, search your hard
drive for PST files. Open them using file, open, outlook data file and look
in the folder list for the calendar folder- are the missing appointments
there? If not, and if they are not in your Deleted items folder they are
gone.

Anyone? Is there a way for me to get all these deleted calendar

I've used AutoArchive for a long time -- and I definitely never
deleted
the

calendar

Thanks so much

Ok so I hit Ctrl+6 and then it brought up Archive Folders. Under Archive
Folders it lists: Calendar, Deleted Items, Journal, Sent Items, Tasks, and
Search Folders. Clicking on brought up a green Calendar with no appointments
back to Oct 2007. Nothing from Oct 2007 till about mid-August 2008 (ie. up
till about 2 weeks ago).

Oh well, Diane can you please tell me how to run an auto archive right now?
I do periodically sync with Google Calendar too so perhaps I can do a one way

Wow. How could my BlackBerry delete the archived calendar items?

Are you 100% sure they were archived and the BB didn't delete them during a
sync?

The devices (not just BB) usually have sync options that tells them which
device is the master, how to sync - to outlook, from outlook or 2 way - and
what to do with the appointments that are deleted from the slave system -
keep them or delete them from the master. I think your theory about the BB's
memory being full is closer to what happened than anything.

I would not use archive to backup your calendar - just make a new calendar
folder (select the calendar, file, new folder). Use the by category view,
select all and move (or copy) all the items to the new one - you can use the
Edit, move to and copy to menus - then sync.

memory being full is closer to what happened than anything.

I would not use archive to backup your calendar - just make a new calendar
folder (select the calendar, file, new folder). Use the by category view,
select all and move (or copy) all the items to the new one - you can use the
Edit, move to and copy to menus - then sync.
