Old docs after Office 2007 install

Hi, I have been asked to install Office 2007 pro on Sunday on a friends
PC.
She has purchased a full retail copy.
ATM she has Office97 and that will be uninstalled during Office 2007
setup.
Will all her old word docs etc be opened OK with Office 2007?

If the computer owner wants Office 97 removed from the computer (and it
doesn't have to be to use Office 2007 and Office 2007 will normally take
precedence over 97 when double clicking on a file in My Computer or Windows
Explorer.) If it is to be removed I recommend that it is removed by the
uninstall feature before installing Office 2007 instead of having the Office
'07 install remove it. Seems to make a much cleaner install.
