old emails getting resent unexpectedly

We are using Entourage in an Exchange environment and we occasionally
have a user who reports old emails being resent from Entourage. It
seem to be happening from the Client side and tends to happen to
people with large mailboxes or to people who might be in need of a
database rebuild-- sometimes it happens right after a database
rebuild. Obviously this causes some confusion for the recipients of
these old emails and it annoys our users who have to explain this to
everyone who gets confused. Is there some explanation for this and is
there anything we could be doing to prevent it from happening? Thanks.

Hi Tommy!

I have not heard of this happening before but if you suspect this is
database corruption in Entourage then I suggest using Entourage -->
Switch Identity... to create a new identity, set up the Exchange account
again and continue using it.

I don't recommend using the Database Utility when you have Exchange or
IMAP accounts because if data is wrongly deleted or changed then it will
be synchronized back to the server.

Hope this helps!

You know, this just happened to me, as well. I'm using Entourage 2004
with an IMAP account. I had copied my identity from my desktop to my
laptop, and then found that I had to do a rebuild in order for the
database to work. Well, I just discovered that two old emails were
resent without my doing so, one from Sept and the other from Nov. I
only realized that something was amiss when I got confused replies.
In any case, the emails were sent either on the day I did the rebuild
or the next one.

A side problem is that my address book and calendar were not
transferred over properly, and they are missing tons of information.
This is less of an issue for me, since I primarily use my desktop, but
it's still a concern.
