Old post on fractions helped!

RE

I'm a newbie to this newsgroup but wanted to say thanks to Clive Huggan for
his posting last year re: fractions.

I was extremely annoyed w/ Word X because it wasn't auto correcting
fractions. I was contemplating upgrading to Word 2004 but thought I'd do a
search on the google archives before I spent the money.

The notes were very clear and I was able to add all the fractions I use into
the auto correct feature. It was well worth the time for the fix!

Thanks again for the help!

Hello Robie,

Thank you for taking the trouble to let me know! Feedback is good to
receive, especially when I wonder whether advice is still relevant.

I see you're using Word X. Unlike Word X, Word 2004 has support for the
enormous range of Unicode characters (albeit not quite as extensive as on
the PC -- but in practical terms the difference is almost academic), which
should mean that special Unicode fraction characters can display, including
characters created on the PC. Unfortunately I have not had time to
experiment with this, so I can't shed any more light on the subject -- maybe
someone more expert on this topic will come along.

In any event, the AutoCorrecting process suits all my current needs with
fractions.

For anyone watching, the process of producing elegantly formatted fractions
via AutoCorrect is described in appendix G, 'Formatting fractions using
AutoCorrect', in "Bend Word to Your Will", available as a free download from
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/WordMac/Bend/BendWord.htm

Cheers,
