Old reminders keep coming back

Outlook 2007 keeps recreating reminders I have previously closed and the
list grows longer each time. I use the Run command "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE /cleanreminders" to clear them.
This works for a while, but they always return again later.

Quite apart from the nusiance value it has become a real problem because it
is now taking several minutes for Outlook to "dismiss all", and for ever to
dismiss them individually, and a few of the reminders should not be
dismissed anyway.

Is there a reliable way of stopping old/dismissed reminders from
reappearing?

This is happening to me too and it is annoying. I am also having trouble with
Outlook not saving any notes I put in the appointments. I open "this
occurence" write my notes, close and save. But when I go back to check on
them, they are not there. At first it was just enough to make me think I was
losing it, but now it is everything I put in. How do I make this stop?

Use individual appointments if you want to "add notes".

I do use individual appointments! I had outlook 2003 at work and that was how
I kept up with the progress on my projects. So I am not unfamiliar with how
it works. I open my appointment, click this occurence, write notes and save
and close. It deletes them shortly after. I will not be able to pull them up
at the end of the day for review.
With the reminders, I open the series, click on the reoccurance, click none,
ok, save and close. The reminders go away and come back the next day. It
slows my computer down and it takes forever to pull up my calendar and my
e-mail due to massive reminders.
It's driving me insane.

Individual appointments don't have "occurrence vs series" choice, only
recurring appointment do that. Use Individual appointments, not
recurring ones.

I have the same problem, but mine may be compounded. My boss has two others
who manage his calendar, add/delete, etc., and he syncs outlook 2007 with a
blackberry device. He has three reoccuring reminders that were deleted long
ago, dont show up on the blackberry or OWA, but do on his OUtlook 2007,
Exchange 2007, cached mode. Any help would be appreciated.

OK Bob,
Let me get this straight... I have to make indidvidual appointments for each
day in order to make notations and have them save? So if I have something
that I am going to do everyday from now until kingdom comes, I have to remake
the appointment EVERY day?
You still have not addressed the issue of the reminders coming back after
they have been repeatedly taken off the series.
OUTLOOK 2003 is not like that. I have used it at work for the last two years
and have never had ONE issue. It allows you to go in to that OCCURANCE and
add changes. How is outlook 2007 an improvement? What you are telling me
makes no sense. Surely they did not fix something that wasn't broke? I am
very frustrated with it.

I also would very much like to see my original issue answered - reminders
keep coming back. It has happened 3 times today and it is driving me nuts.

First a "recurring appointment" is a single entry that is shown at the
appropriate locations, and if you move an instance, odd things happen in
the background. The fact that you could put different notes in instances
in 2003 and not 2007 is likely due to the system trying to correct the
discrepancies. FWIW I took to creating single appointments rather than
recurrences back in 2003 due to the odd things relating to having
changes made to a single instance. You can create a nearly endless list
of appointments in Excel and import them and then you can edit and
delete at will without causing issues with each other. As to the
reappearing reminders, the possibility exists that you have managed to
corrupt your profile, and that's why cleanreminders no longer is
effective.
