Old tasks still in PWA`

I have had many resources report having old tasks lingering in Project, even
when I have physically deleted them from the project plan. I have tried a
publish, republish, republish w\ overwrite (just crashes). nothing.

The only thing that seems to work is to delete the resource and re-add them,
then reassign all the tasks to them.

Help?

Andy --

If you delete a published task to which a resource is assigned (or remove a
resource from a published task), the PWA timesheet will continue to show the
cancelled task, represented by a large black "X" in the Indicators column to
the left of the task name. To remove these cancelled tasks, you have two
choices:

1. Teach your team members how to select a cancelled task and then click
the Hide button

2. Periodically run the SQL Server script referenced in the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/deletecancelledtasks.htm

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale,

I am already running that script to delete tasks each night, which is
working fine. The thing is that these tasks are not showing as deleted,
they look like normal tasks, they can submit updates, etc. I can go around
to all of them and have them hide it, but I would rather understand why a
task that no longer exists is still showing up.
