Old version keeps trying to come up

Each time that I click on one of the documents that I created with
Excel, Version X, release 1 keeps trying to load. I have just
installed the newest version (2004). What do I need to do to get this
to keep from happening?

Select a excel document. Choose File/Get Info. In the Open with pane,
choose XL04 and click Change All.
