Old version of Word to new

W

First question: I have Word 97 (I know, an antique) and I'm in the middle of
a project utilizing it. However, it keeps freezing and forcing me to wait and
wait and wait until I can close it down and sometimes reboot and start all
over again. Is there a fix for this? I understand that Microsoft is no longer
offering support on my antique.

Second question: If I am to buy a new version of Word, I have been told that
2003 is more like 97 and would be easier for me to work with. I don't have
time for a huge learning curve, and I understand that that's what would be
involved if I were to buy 2007.

Any advice?
Thanks!

It sounds to me like you have a corrupted installation of Word 97. Have you
attempted to uninstall your copy of Word, and then re-install it? While you
are at it, it never hurts to clean out the temporary folders on your hard
drive, and do a disk defragmentation.

You have posted your question to the wrong newsgroup. This newsgroup is for
Q&A related to using Microsoft Access, the database software. Scroll down the
list that you should see in the web browser, on your left, to find an
appropriate Word discussion group (last entry in the list). Oh, and yes, I
agree that any of the Office 2007 programs represent a vast change in the
user interface, which you may not welcome at a time when you just need to get
work done.

Sorry, I didn't realize I was in the wrong place! But thank you for your
advice. My copy of Word, however, came with my computer, so I don't think I
have a copy. Sigh! BTW, I clean out the temp folders and defrag many times
per week.
