Old Word docs Linking to old Server

Hello,

We have just installed a new File Server with Win2K Adv Server as OS.
Old File Server was NT 4.0 SP6.
Currently have XP Pro & NT 4.0 SP6 as clients
Also the DC is NT 4.0 SP6

All data has been migrated to the new file Server. We have a problem
that some word docs will not open when the old Server is shutdown,
hence it is up and running on the domain but empty of data.

We think we have identified the problem but do not have a fix.

We have noticed a link in TOOLS - MACRO - MICROSOFT SCRIPT EDITOR to
the old Server path, see example below :
<w:AttachedTemplate
HRef="\\Server1\NEWUSER\MSOFFICE\Template\LETTER.dot"></w:AttachedTemplate>

Hence any old docs created from the templates have the link to the old
Server. All new docs do not have the link.

Issue is when the old Server is switched off none of the old docs can
be opened, it hangs.

Does anyone know how to fix this, is it a setting on word to change.
We have already unticked TOOLS - OPTIONS - GENRAL - Update automatic
links at open + many more options have been changed to test. It
always seems to hang, whatever the change. Switch the Server back on
and it opens no problem.

IS this the issue or is it something else !! Suggestions !!

HELP

Regards
Keith
