older iBook- bought Office MAC v.X and it's an upgrade!

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

What can I do about using a Office MAC v.X upgrade when there was no Application for Microsoft when I bought the iBook used. The iBook is in great condition and I only needed Word and Maybe Excel. But the edition I bought on line turns out to be an upgrade only. What can I do next?

Buy a legal copy.

If you don't need Exchange you can get Office 2008 very reasonably. $113.49
