Hi,
A user's computer here has some very strange messages that come up:
EXCEL:
Cannot use object linking and embedding.
WORD:
This document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create
links from other documents to this document.
OUTLOOK, on starting email:
Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is
unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The
Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead.
ACCESS:
A problem occurred while Microsoft Office Access was communicating with
the OLE server or ActiveX Control.
Close the OLE server and restart it outside of Microsoft Office Access.
Then try the original operation again in Microsoft Office Access.
We reinstall everything and then it seems fine for a couple of weeks,
and then everything comes back again. When she's getting these errors,
she then loses all OLE functionality - so no copy/paste, etc!
This issue also existed when she was on Office XP. We're about to try
Office 97 on her computer, to see if that helps, but we suspect that she
may be doing something strange.
Also, her "Control Panel" folder opens up, with the control panel items
in the sidebar on the left, and the main panel blank! I'd not noticed
this one until this most recent reinstall...
Any information appreciated, either here or off-list at my email
address, remove the NOSPAM.
