After getting a re-imaged hard drive, and re-installing Abobe Acrobat
Professional 6.0, the linked .pdf files in the OLE field will not open. The
error messages are as follows:
*You may have specified an invalid file name or an invalid unit of data
(such as a range of cells from a worksheet) within the file for the OLE
object.
*The file you specified may not be available because it's locked by another
user or you don't have permission to use it.
Try one of the following:
*Make sure the file is available and that you used the correct file name.
*Check the OLE server's documentation for information about the syntax to
use when specifing an OLE object's data.
Other linked files like text files or excel files or zip files open fine.
This is the second time this has happened. It was remedied the first time,
but the IT person that fixed it that time is no longer with us. It seems to
be a problem with recognizing which program to use to open the file. If I
re-insert the .pdf file it works just fine. My IT people are now telling me
that I have to re-insert every file. That's not an option, as there are way
too many to deal with, and this will happen again if my PC changes. I know
this is a simple fix, but can't seem to find it. Please help.
