OLE objects displayed in form as 'Content' rather than 'Icon'

Is there a work-around for the bug that changes
the 'Display as property' from Icon to Content. I
associate a linked object to an entry in an Access table
with the 'Display As' property for the linked object field
set to Icon. When I display the object later, the linked
object displays the content of the linked file in the
field rather than the Icon. To correct this, I must find
the object in the Access table, and select the 'Display as
Icon' box on the Convert dialog box that is launched from
the 'Document Object' menu selection. I need a way of
converting the displayed content to an Icon.
