OLE Program Error

When trying to edit a WordArt object that worked properly in the past now
receives the following error message and cannot be opened for editing.

Error Message: Publisher cannot launch or communicate with the OLE program
server program to complete this task.

What can be done to aleviate this error? I have gone through the support
database and it is way above my head. I'm wondering if it has to do with any
MS updates? If any of you are able to assist, it would be deeply appreciated.

It would be helpful to know the version of Publisher you are using.
There are different solutions for different versions.

Yes, Mary, it probably would help. Sorry about that. I'm using Microsoft
Office 2003 Professional with Publisher 2003 being an additional purchase.
Although I am also using Publisher 2000 which is also experiencing the OLE
program server issue.

Thanks!

Are you trying to edit 2000 publications in your 2003 version? The WordArt is not
compatible. There is an add-in to overcome this.
Publisher 2003/2002 Add-in: WordArt Compatibility

To use the WordArt in 2003 versions, insert, object, scroll down to Microsoft WordArt
3.2

Could be when you installed Publisher, the Photo Editor was removed as your OLE
server.
When you try to insert a picture as a linked embedded object in an Office 2003
program, the picture is not inserted

I had upgraded the add-in quite some time ago and that resolved wonky text
formatting just fine. I should also say that most all the documents were
created in Pub 2000 first and then opened in Pub 2003 and resaved to the new
format and in a different folder. As I said, I wasn't having this problem
until very recently.

These problems with the OLE server program only occur on my PC, I'm able to
edit the documents just fine with my notebook/laptop in either version. I'm
been trying to narrow down what could be causing it.

I've been reading information regarding Norton Systemworks 2002 possibly
being the culprit. I have this loaded on my PC as well as Norton Internet
Security, but only have Internet Security on my laptop. I have followed the
instructions regarding this possibly being the problem by changing some
settings, but that doesn't seem to work either.

I thought about removing Systemworks and just running Internet Security to
see if that would resolve it. Perhaps reinstalling might be an option too.
What do you think?
