OLE registration error: I want Word as my Outlook editor

I have a second-hand computer and new Microsoft Office 2002 package. But I
cannot get Outlook to accept Word as my Outlook editor, it just keeps coming
up with the same error messages, which is either 'No interface' or 'This form
requires Word as your e-mail editor but Word is either busy or cannot be
found. The form will be opened in the Outlook editor instead. An OLE
registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run
Setup again for the program.'
I have run what I imagine they mean by Setup time and time again, but still
no good. Am quite dismayed as my main objective in getting Microsoft Office
was to have the benefits of Word etc in email. Any suggestions?

Have you made sure your Internet Options are set to have MS Word as your
editor? If not open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internet Options,
Programs tab and make sure MS Word is your HTML editor.

Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately, I've done that, in fact,
everything I can think of to sort this out, checked relevant boxes in Outlook
Tools, all of it. But still no dice.

One question...is it Outlook 2002, 2003 or Outlook Express? You may have to
reinstall office, hopefully you have the disk, BUT before uninstalling and
reinstalling you need to download belarc at
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and run it and print out all the
results. Belarc looks into your computer and retrieves all the MS Office and
MS Windows CD Key numbers. The 25 alpha-numeric one not the OEM. It seems
like Office, or at least Word may be corrupt. But remember to get that CD
Key first. You lose it and it's a hassle buying it back from Microsoft.
Best to keep a copy of that print out somewhere safe for future uses.

Thanks again! It's Outlook 2002, Windows XP. I won't have time to put your
excellent advice into practice until the weekend, but I'm very hopeful now.
Many thanks for your input...

Start->run, type "regsvr32.exe ole32.dll" and press okay. This should
reregister the object and get rid of the error message.
