OLEXP 6 sends but says it did not.

I am running XP Pro and OLEXP 6. When I hit "send", I get a progress bar that
zooms all green. The message stays in the outbox and OLEXP keeps trying to
send it. It get received each time, including the first time by the
recipient and cc's. I have to manually delete it and it never does get to
the "sent items" This happens with the majority of the emails I send--a few
make through with no problems. The problem has been getting worse over the
past few months. When it first started, it was every now and then.
