Using Outlook 2002 with Public Folders, and wanted to be able to group in
Table View by Start Date on Date only (i.e. 27/11/03 - UK date format)
rather than Date+Time (27/11/03 14:30). i.e., want one 'Group' for 27/11/03,
one for 28/11/03, one for 29/11/03. (Outlook would normally group by e.g.
27/11/03 13:00, then 27/11/03 14:00 etc. etc.)
So. I created a Custom Form, and did a Custom Field ('CalcDate') and set the
Initial Values of this field to be "DateValue( [Start] )", Formula
Calculated Automatically.
This seemed to work fine - 27/11/03 14:30 would be refined to just 27/11/03,
and then I could Group on the 'CalcDate' field to give me a table list
broken down by date (not date+time). The only slight cosmetic problem was
that in the Group Header it would display "27/11/03 00:00"
Thought everything in the garden was lovely. until I tried to edit the
entry.
When I change the Start date e.g. from 27/11/03 14:30 to 28/11/03 14:30, the
CalcDate appears to change (to 28/11/03) but it does not get saved with the
form, so when Grouped by CalcDate, it will assume 27/11/03 rather than
28/11/03
Any ideas?
Thanks

Stop press - weird thing kind of solves this problem
Bit tricky to describe, but if I do another custom field after the previous
one, and then make a small change in the data in this field after having
e.g. changed the Start date ... then the date calculated from the Start date
seems to be recorded when the record is saved.
Very odd - now I have to ask the users to make a small change in the last
field, whether they want to or not.
