I previously stated that ON 07 went to 100% CPU when ON 03 was open. I
must correct that. I now see that it goes to 100% if I open a document by
double-clicking on a link (the icon kind) and then close that document.
It only goes to 100% after you close the document. It is fine until then.

I have this problem constantly. OneNote 2007 seems to run at 100% CPU
with climbing memory usage until it crashes 20 minutes later. Over and
over again. Anybody have similar problems?

Are you also opening and closing any file embedded on a OneNote page? (That
is a known bug).
If not, have you ever enabled Audio Search?

Yes, there seems to be a pretty serious problem with ON.

With only 2 sections open within a folder (each section of 6/7 pages
length and containing multiple hand-drawn charts and screen clippings),
merely attempting to scroll down a page red-line's the CPU. I also see
ON memory usage accumulating until crashing the system.

Am I correct in assuming the software is caching all open sections? In
that case you'd really need to have any substantial page in its own
separate section within a folder - this would be tedious and surely not
how MS intend the program to be used.

btw... the section in question if 3.7M

Same problem. Usually after writing for 2-3 hours.

No embedded files. Never used Audio Search.

Hello,
I was wondering if there were any updates to this problem. To add to what
was already mentioned, when ON2007 Beta 2 TR is open my cpu usage fluctuates
from 25-100%. The cpu usage spikes especially when restoring a minimized ON
2007 window. the memory usage fluctuates from 68k to 120k. This did not
happen with ON 2003 SP2. Also, as I scroll down a page with a screen clipping
or an image sent to ON, ON tends to "stall" or freeze for a few seconds.
For me this is the main issue preventing ON 2007 from being a usable
product. I would not buy it until I knew this problem was fixed.
I Hope a workaround or fix is found soon.

Can you describe more about your system? Hardware, OS?
What are you doing when it spikes?
Have you updated to the newest WDS version?
Have you given ON a chance to index your notebook fully?

Patrick,
I've got a Fujitsu T4010 1.8ghz 1 gig ram 80 gig hd running Win XP Tablet PC.
It spikes during normal use. It is especially noticeable when I restore a
minimized ON window or when I try to scroll to the bottom of a ON page. I do
have the newest version of WDS. I am not sure how fully index my notebook,
but I have optomized all my files.
I greatly appreciate your help.

No idea then...
Go on connect.microsoft.com, sign up for the OneNote connection and
submit your issue via the Feedback link there. Microsoft will be work
with you then in figuring out what is going on.
