ON 2003 and ON 2007

I have WinXP Pro on my business PC with ON 2003 NOT installed, but I have the
ON 2003 install disk.

I have Vista Business with ON 2007 on my laptop. I use ON 2007 every day.

If I install ON 2003 on my WinXP Pro PC will ON 2003 and ON 2007 sync
without problems?

No.

ON2003 cannot read ON2007 files.
ON2007 can read and convert ON2003 files to ON2007 format but it's a one way
conversion with no backward compatibility.

If you want to sync notes between the PC and laptop, you'll have to install
ON2007 on the PC as well.

They won't sync at all. Shared Notebooks (the basic concept behind the
sync process) is a new feature introduced in ON2007. The file formats are
different and incompatible between versions as well. You need both
computers to have ON2007 in order to sync or to otherwise share data. YOu
should be able to purchase an upgrade for ON2003.

Thank you John, it looks like I'll be going over to Fry's tonight for another
copy of OneNote 2007.

My license allows me to install on two computers. My version is not the home
version (which allows three installs/computers).

Before you buy another copy of just OneNote, let me make a suggestion:
If the second computer is your home computer, consider buying Office 2007
Home and Student. It comes with three licenses for Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
AND OneNote. It doesn't cost much more than just OneNote. It is not licensed
for business use, but for home use it works great. It is the same products.
The only difference you will see is an indication in the title bar that it
is for personal use only.
