ON automatically created multiple duplicate sections in all notebo

That's about it. When I opened ON it created about three duplicate sections
in all notebooks--and I'm having problems getting ON to let me delete them.
Any ideas on what happened and if there is an efficient way to delete the
notebooks will be gratefully received. Unlike Excel, ON does not appear to
allow me to select multiple sections and delete them in one stroke.

Thanks!

A few questions to try to narrow down what exactly happened:
Where are you storing the notebook? Local disk? File share? Server? Are
you using any file/folder synchronization technologies (such as Groove,
FolderShare, etc)?
Are you the only person using the notebook? Do you use multiple computers?

When you say it created three duplicate sections, do you mean that just
three sections per notebook were duplicated, or there are three
duplicates of every single section?

If you want to delete multiple sections at once, the easiest way is to
open the notebook in windows explorer and delete them from there. The
default location for the notebooks is in "My Documents\OneNote Notebooks"

Thanks Ilya, that's what I figured out too. While I can delete the
duplicates in the folders and eliminate the files (except a single copy of
course), having to do this all the time is annoying.

I only use ON on one computer, and store the files under the default folder
in (my name)/Documents/Onenote Notebooks in their separate section folders.
I'm not using any folder synch products, though I have a Beta version of Mesh
that I am not using. The duplicates appear in every section and are appended
with dates like so: filename.one.one.one (On 6-4-2008)

I'm clueless, but will try a couple of things like get rid of Mesh and see
if I can create a subfolder in Onenote Notebooks.

Thanks for you help!

Best,
Kevin

Could you doublecheck the backup settings for OneNote? Go into
Tools->Options->Save, and look for the backup folder path. Make sure
that the backup location is not contained in your notebooks, and your
notebooks aren't opened from within the backup folder (you can check the
path to the notebook by hovering over the notebook icon in the pane on
the left).

Thanks Ilya!! I made that change and now it seems obvious what was going on.
I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm sure that will fix my problem. Many thanks!!

Best,
Kevin
