I have an Exchange account and I would like to understand how to hide the "On My Computer" folders that appear in the sidebar, since I do not use them.

Or is there a way to combine all this information into my Exchange account folders.

Click the triangle to the left of "On My Computers" and you will no longer
see the folders.

All accounts send through the Outbox under folders "On My Computer".
"Folders on My Computer" serves as an interface to store and organize
(archive) messages locally on your computer. Until MacBU develops .pst
support or something similar, we need this capability. Toggle to close by
clicking on the arrow and reduce the space used.

Related question...

I have a user (a rather high ranking one) that says his folders and messages that he had archived under "On My Computer" have gone missing.

We have attempted many things and are trying to roll back to old identity databases (on a different machine). So far no luck.

This may have happened a couple of days ago when the user reported that mail was not sending. We found two accounts under his identity both pointed at the same Exchange servers. One was labeled "Old". We deleted that account and mail started flowing.

Question is, would that have ALSO completely cleared his "On My Computer" data?

No. Have you checked under View in the Menu bar to see if they have select
"unflagged only?"

You can also do a search for an email you know that should be there, then
use a script to show where it's located.
