Hello,

When I type "." on my nummeric keypad (under the 3) then, in xls, a "," is
displayed.
How can I display a "." ?

Thanks in advance for you help !

It's not that simple.
Num lock is on, but displays"," in stead of "."
When numlock is off, nothing is displayed

I can epeat your problem. Not sure if it is the same reason in your case

Tools Menu - Auto Correct - auto Correct

Make sure the period isn't being replaced with a commma

The period isn't replaced with comma.
I tried to replace the comma into a period, and that works finen but only in
a cell.
So when I type in the find option to search ex 1.2, it isn't replaced and
1.2 wil not be found because he will search 1,2
So to replace the comma into a period is not a good solution.

In MS Word, it displays ".", so I don't think is will be the keybord that
does it, but XLS
Any other suggestion ?

Thanks
Tom

Does the problem occur with strings type '..... Do these commas get replaced
with commas. If not then it has something to do with number formats.
If thats the case then check format and Special Format. Try reformatting
cells with a format that doesn't contain a ,. Check also that no special
formats have been specified for the cells.

When I push the . button and leave is pressed ".,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.," is
displayed
with autocorrection still on (so , is replaced by .)
The problem is also with a brand new page, so it is not specified in a cell,
It looks like it is mentionned in the general options of XLS or something.

what happens with the string if autocorrection is off. I think the problem
is a format problem with numbers only!

When autocorrection is of, it shows ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, when
pressing "."

The "." on the numeric keypad is treated by Excel as a decimal separator.
The decimal separator character is determined by your computer's Regional
Settings. If you want to type a "." character then use the one on the main
keyboard.

They had the same regional settings, the same language, but you can change
there the settings of the language !
I changed the , into a . and it works !

Many Thanks !
