ON on usb

Hi,
i use ON on USB flash memory as I move the usb from home to office (and wiseversa)
computer, as the files keep updated.
Eveything seems fine execpt one thing:
When I click on the ON icon on the taskbar, the shorcut to the USB comes as the first screen
and then I have to click on it to enter into my notebook.
However, doing this everytime is annoying and
I would like ON to open as it was on the computer hard drive, i.e.,
I would like ON to open a folder directly in the notebook when I click on the
icon on the taskbar.
Is this possible?

Sorry, I don't have your answer, just another question. How do you run
OneNote on a USB drive? Does it need to be installed on host computer to
run? I'd love to take my ON to work with me but I can't install it there
obviously.

U need ON to be installed on both computers.
Then simply keep the my notebook files on the USB
and in ON open the entire folder. Every change will be saved on the USB.
Thats it.

How fast is it? I'm thinking about doing the same thing but concerned it
will be too slow when searching etc. My existing Sony memory stick is quite
slow

You would only be transferring files from one computer to another. Is that
slow for you? They're not very large. I've seen some issues with a memory
stick if it is designed for USB 2.0 and a system only has USB 1.1, for
instance. Sometimes it'll hiccup, but eventually work. Remember, not all
computers have 2.0 on all USB ports (if you read the specs closely).

Just in case I wasn't clear I'm thinking of always storing the onenote files
on a flash card, so they'll be edited for instance on the flash device.

My experience with slowness comes from dealing with photos on a memory stick
card - reorientating them for instance the other night was very slow.
Searching a flash card for photos was also slow. This is with Memory Stick
reader as opposed to USB 2.0. It could be the my memory stick reader is
slower than USB 2.0, so maybe I'm better off getting a USB 2.0 stick do you
think?

If you're running a 1.1 USB stick on a 2.0 device, or visa-versa, yes, it
probably will be slower. As for photos, it would really depend on the size.
Raw pictures off my digital camera are huge until I get them on a system to
resize them to "manageable."

I've accessed OneNote files from a USB flash drive without any noticeable
performance issues.

Me, with a USB it will not be slow at all.
With a MS it is also not slow. It is not as dealing with the photos.
You will keep all files on the MS and when you edit it, it will automatically save on
the MS. In this case, the writing speed even is not very important. Cause you can continue to work on ON while ON saves on the MS.
But again, it is also not slow at all.
Just backup your notebook and try it.
If you even find it slow, then go for a USB.

I was planing to keep the files on the MS but not all computers read it.
Hence I decided for a USB memory.
