On vacation - need to access my email by dial-up

I have internet access via dial-up modem (yikes!) and need to access Outlook.
Send/receive yields the message that Outlook is unable to connect to the POP3
server (0x80042108). What settings do I adjust or create so I can (slowly)
get my email?

I assume this would apply whenever I travel, whether the connection is dial-
up or highspeed??? I thought I'd been able to access Outlook before with
regular highspeed connections - maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for any help...

Hi,

As a start, try increasing the server time-outs in your account settings.
They make sure that Outlook tries connecting itself esp working on a dial-ups.
Go under Tools> Email Account> View or change email account> Change>Advanced
Settings> Advanced> And increase the server time-outs to 4-5min.
Restart Outlook and check again.
If it fails, try disabling the Anti-Virus programs as they scan your emails
prior sending/receiving.

Thanks,
