ON2007 creates a second mobile section, ignores correct sect. on s

I have a WM5 PPC and sync with AS4.2. ON2007 (Trial) has "issues". I got
duplicate pages for a while that seemed to be generated when I sync'ed, but
saw just one section, correctly named, in the OneNote Mobile notebook. So I
cleared out duplicates and created a page set that I needed to have available
every time I opened ON on the mobile.

The first time I sync'ed after that I saw a dialog asking me to choose
overwriting, synchronization/merging, or no action. (I may not have the exact
wording of the three options but that was the spread of the meanings.) I
believe I asked for overwrite because my ON section on my laptop was just the
way I wanted it.
Now I have two sections for mobile sync. The second has a "(2)" appended. I
know I am supposed to have just one section.

This extra section keeps appearing on my laptop -- empty -- even after I
delete it and get all the pages set in the right section. On the Axim there
is only the (now empty) bogus (2) version. I have now tried this with both
"overwrite" and "merge" options picked.

I also get an "unhandled exception" error starting "OneNote Journal" out of
my system tray... that will be another post, but perhaps there's a relation
to this problem.

(These past seven days I have spent the majority of my time trying to fix
software instead of getting much work done.)

Something's rotten in the state of OneNote... any suggestions?

Sometimes ActiveSync has issues. I get that duplicate section in the ONM
notebook at times and the only thing to do is to use the new section.

I would move out any data from the ONM Notebook that you want to keep and
then break the partnership in AS and start from scratch.

Beware that if there are blank pages in the ONM section which have a
title but no content, then ONM will not sync them. This doesn't mean
anything is wrong with ONM.
