ON2007 Live share -assigning a public address

After creating a shared notebook, how do you "assign a public address" to it
so it can be accessed and shared in a live session from an internet access
port ie (outside the corp network)

We can create the live session within the network but when we try to find
out what the public address is ON2007 says it has not been assigned.

Yes I have, but that just allows a specific port assignment and does not
actually allow me to set the full address.

The public address should be whatever your public IP address is for that
site. You may need to configure your firewall/router to forward the traffic
for that port to OneNote though.

Thanks Ben, I understand that but still don't see where or how to tell my
notebook about that "public address". The notebook physically resides on the
server that has a public facing IP and I can make all that line up, but am
still missing the pieces in ON2007 that sets those addresses, beyond the port
number??

I don't think OneNote 2007 cares what public address you use. Once you turn
on live sharing you should be able to connect to that session from the
outside (as long as the REMOTE OneNote 2007 knows what the public address
is) if your firewall/router is configured to properly pass the traffic to
the notebook being live shared.

"as long as the REMOTE OneNote 2007 knows what the public address is)"

That does make sense, however, the local copy (inside) is where the live
sharing is initiated and it is in THAT copy that I get this message.....

"Session address for participants joining over the Internet:
No public address is available for this live sharing session.
Another session participant may be able to start this session and provide a
public address."

If I can't tell the local copy what the address is how can I send it to
others in an invite??

In some cases, if your router/firewall does not have functionality that
enables OneNote to determine a public address, you may not be able to
use the automatic invite feature. If that is the case, you would need to
manually configure the router to pass through incoming traffic to the
computer hosting the shared session, then determine the public address
of the router and tell users outside your local network to connect to
the router, which would forward the data to the computer running
OneNote. People joining from outside your network would need to manually
type in the address you give them into the join shared session taskpane.
