Once again problem with Entourage Database Rebuild

Two days ago I had a bad thing happened to me. I use Leopard - erase &
install and Office 2008 - Office was not updated with it's newest
update yet. I restarted my Mac and when wanted to launch Entourage it
showed database error and asked me to rebuild it. I tried to do this
but when i got to 4/5 step in about 80-85% it shows error. My database
is 4.09 GB. I tried to rebuild it about 5 times and it always shows
error at one the same point. Compacting also comes up with error. One
time while doing a rebuild Database Utility went down without deleting
a 'Database (rebuild)'. I got back about 3.24GB of all Database. I
changed it's name to Database and put in a Main Identity folder. It
worked but very many mails are missing and Entourage is working very
very slow. I can not loose that much of information and really need to
use the old database. What can i do in this case because all I got is
my old Main Identity and old 4.09 Database which was backed up. I can
not run Entourage on the old 4.09 GB Database at all. I've tried all
kinds of tricks with importing to other programs but none of this
worked..

Is there any kind of software that fixes database files or does
anything that can be helpful in this case??

The latest update was for the AutoUpdater. It is crucial that you download
and install. You will not get any future updates for 2008 without it.

There is no software that will fix a database, but manually you can get
Entourage working. I have seen several reports of a similar problems. The
solution is to use either a working 2004 Identity or a 2008 Identity that
will open to retrieve your mail. Once you get your data into Entourage 2008
using this method, you will have a stable database.

1. Create a new Identity in Entourage 2008.
2. Enter your Account info from scratch (screenshots from your previous
Identity helps)
3. Option drag over your Rules & Signature file (you will have to reset
folder destination)
4. Manually move over your data. See this page for directions:

If you use Sync Services to get your contacts, turn off as soon as you sync.
Entourage 2008 has serious problems with Sync Services at this time.

The thing is that i can not open entourage at all. File i recovered
(mentioned database of 3.24 GB) is useless for me because big part of
all messages is missing.
All instructions of exporting/importing mails that i found on the web
need to open entourage and then move content to another program or
location, but as I said I'm not able to launch Entourage at all.
I was even thinking of decreasing somehow size of the database (4.09
GB) so it gets under 4 gigs and maybe this works.
What are your instructions in this case?

When you do a rebuild, Entourage makes a duplicate. Have you tried opening
the duplicate?

Unless you can open Entourage you cannot do anything with the data. This is
why backups are necessary.

If you could test your Identity on another computer you could eliminate your
Leopard install as part of the problem.
