I work for a small company where I wear a lot of different hats. I have projects and tasks for each area of responsibility; they overlap, they elbow each other out of the way, try to cut in line, etc. Usually I need to spend a few hours a day on each project, rather than devoting myself to one task exclusively. I need to be able to estimate project completions, while regularly updating those estimates based on changes from other projects. I need to be able to spontaneously drop a project into the middle of everything and see how that will impact everything else.
I seemingly want MS Project combined with some robust task management solution: Gantt charts with drag & drop end-to-start assignability. I want to be able to have 4+ different projects running simultaneously, specifying percentages of my day to be spent on each project.
You see the problem? Can you suggest how to make Project do this, or do I need to add to my task list and write something myself?
