One music track for a whole PowerPoint presenation

How do I add a single music file to play during a whole presentation. I don't want it to play just for one slide but to play continuously in the background for the whole presentation

IMHO this isn't possible as long as you want to synchronize parts of the
sound track with the shown charts. Animations duration varies depending on
the speed of th presentating PC/Mac.

I've tested a self-running presentation on different PCs: the playing time
differs some more or less seconds at a total play time of approx. 6 minutes.

Adding a single music file to a presentation only makes sense as long as
there are no points when sound an chart have to be synchronized.

If it's just play-some-music-as-you-look-at-my-charts you can add the sound
file to your first chart and set it to play automatically when presentation
starts. Just remember that your sound file has to be long enough for the
duration of the presentation.
