One Note 2007 and sending pdfs to it

M

Mr. P

I just installed office 2007 and want to use the "send to onenote" feature to
send web pages etc. Specifically, I have adobe pdf pages that I want to send
directly to onenote. When I click the send to onenote menu item in IE7, it
says "this page cannot be sent to OneNote beause OneNote does not support
Internet Explorer add-ins. to insert this page into OneNote, on the file menu
in internet explorer, click print. Choose prtiner called Send to Microsoft
Office OneNote."
When I do go to the print option, there is no choice to send to office one
note. The only choices are to send to my local printer or to an XPS document
writer. How do I get this pdf into onenote? Thanks!

Just to make sure:
Wich version of Office - Beta or final (MVL)?
Which version of OneNote?
Did you uninstall the powertoy "sendtonote" for ON 2003?

Sorry, the answeres were inline, but I'll state them here:

I am using the final (RTM) version of Office 2007. And thus, using OneNote
2007. I never used the "send to one note in 2003", so never used the
Powertoy. This question is strictly around how to use One Note 2007 and when
I get to web page that is a PDF (Adobe) file, how to "send it to onenote." I
hope this makes sense? Thanks!

Oh, now I understand what you are trying to do. When you have a PDF file
open in Internet Explorer, ON doesn't let you use the Send To OneNote
icon?
That is the correct behavior. Send to onenote only works for webpages
(HTML), not for PDF files opened in IE. If you have a PDF open in IE,
you need to use the send to onenote 2007 printer (meaning, print to the
printer with that name) to get the pdf into OneNote, as the message told
you to do.

You won't have that when clicking on the printer icon.
You would have to use "Print" from the File-menu to select a printer.
My only options are the
printer that I use at work and an "Microsoft XPS Document Printer"
that I assume is generic with office? So, now my question is, how
do I get a "one note printer" option when I click the print icon in

Check with "Start-button | Printers" or (if this item is not there)
with "Control | Printers" whether the "sendToOnete printer is
installed or not.

If not, something went wrong when installing ON 2007.
You might try a repair (Add and remove software).

Thanks for the details.

As Patrick alread said, the oN-icon does not work when a PDF is shown
in IE.
You'd have to use the printer icon on the Acrobat inlay.

But obviously something went wrong when installing ON 2007.

Control Panel, Printers doesn't list "Send to OneNote 2007"?
If not, then you have to remove OneNote 2007 and reinstall it.

The problem is I don't have a File-Print option.
From top to bottom my screen looks like this when Explorer is maximized:

Top bar: http://www.us.oup.com/pdf/...
Next bar: forward/back arrows and url that I am at.
Next bar: the tabs for the different pages open in IE7
Bottom bar: the adobe toolbar

There is a printer icon on the adobe bar as well as the tabbed bar.
Nowhere is there a menu File-Print on any of the 4 bars.

Again, this is Vista RTM/IE7/OneNote 2007. I am on the PDF page trying to
print it to OneNote 2007.

IE7 hides the menus by default. Press and release ALT, and you'll see

Mr. P

So, to summarize:
I installed Vista RTM and Office 2007, as well as Adobe Reader on Friday.
This should have provided me the capability to click the printer icon in
adobe whenever I navigate to a pdf page in Explorer and have a print to
onenote option.

I highly doubt something went wrong in the install. I'll reinstall on Monday
if I can't find any other info on this subject. I would lean towards an
alternative explanation that the capability was not included with the Vista
RTM? You have the RTM of Vista and the RTM of Office 2007 and your adobe icon
gives you a print to OneNote option?

Thanks!

Yes. The OneNote 2007 printer driver is only available for 32-bit
Windows.
I think there was some talk about a possible 64 bit driver in the
future, but I wouldn't bet on it.
