One Note inking feature

Could you describe your system a bit more? Are you using Windows XP SP2 and
the Tablet PC Edition 2005? Which pen drivers are you using? Are you using
the Tablet Input Panel or writing directly on the page in OneNote?

Nevermind Chris. Problem solved.... I think. The trouble began after I
attempted to customize a toolbar and place it on the left margin instead of
the default (top). I have since backtracked and unchecked the view from the
main menu, and now the ink functions normally in One Note.

I am running Windows XP Tablet edition SP2 & MS Office 2003 Standard edition
(upgrade from MS Works). I was writing directly on the page, and before I
could write completely across the screen, the previous words would start to
disappear in approximately ten-character chunks at about the same speed as my
writing.

The input panel would receive and convert my handwriting into typed text
only. It seemed to be functioning properly.

Anyway.... thanks for your prompt response. I still don't know why I was
having the problem since simply placing the toolbar along the left "margin"
of the screen should not have mattered, but at least it seems to be working
fine now.

Interesting. I haven't seen that. Did you try placing it on the left, then
closing OneNote and reopening it in that position? I prefer the toolbar on
the left (I'm right-handed), and actually even have my Taskbar positioned
there. So much so, I even run my desktop and other machines that way.

Yes. I did try that... I disabled my firewall, virus protection, etc. I
disconnected all peripherals... nothing worked. I even tried resetting to
defaults on the entire Office Suite. That failed to resolve the problem as
well...Then I went back to the simple stuff that seemed completely
unrelated... ie) remove the tool bar.... that did the trick... unbelievable.

Hi,

Actually, I think you have been using a feature called 'Disappearing ink'.
Yes, a feature. The inking toolbar has an entry to select this pen, which
leave the ink only temporarily on the page. It is useful for presentations
or to use in a shared session.

Hope this helps,
Benoit, OneNote Development.
