One Or More Margins Are Set Outside Printable Area Message

Big Man

I keep getting a "One or more margins are set outside of
the printable area of the page choose the fix button to
increase the appropriate margins" warning message when I
try to close the page setup screen in Word Office XP.
When I click the the fix button Word changes the left
margin to 2.75 points. The document I am working with is
in Landscape format so a 2.75 left margin will not work
for me. The Microsoft Knowledge base says it's due to a
printer limitation... I don't believe 2.75 point left
Margin is acceptable in a landscape document. I also
clicked the default button in the page set up applet but
continue to receive the warning message. When I click fix
WORD tries to reset the left margin to 2.75. Does anyone
know why this is happening and how I can fix the problem.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

There is a known conflict between Word 2002 and the HP drivers for certain
LaserJets (Windows drivers don't present the same problem, but they also
don't always include all the printer options and features). The problem
usually manifests itself in a 2.67" bottom or side margin. Many users report
that the "Margin fix" drivers at
http://www.hp.com/pond/ljbeta/index.html solve the problem. If there is not
a "margin fix" driver for your specific printer model, one of the other
drivers may help.

If you are using some other brand of printer, please post back with model
and driver information, as Microsoft is trying to get more information on
such problems with non-HP printers.
