Reza,

It really depends on your security model settings. Correct me if I'm wrong
but you want to be able to edit XX Project as the Project Owner and also be
able to edit YY Project as a team member even though someone else is the
owner of that project?

If so and you are on PS 2007 then I suggest making sure that you have a
category associated to the Project Managers group that has the ability to
access projects where "The User is on the project's Project Team". "My
Tasks" is an example of such a category that has this rule enabled out of
the box.

So in this example, add "My Tasks" to the "Project Managers" group and
assign the following three permissions only - "Open Project", "Save Project
to Project Server", and "Publish Project".

Hope this helps,

Jonathan

i mean like this,
In project center automatically were 2 projects, XX Project and YY Project.
When i choose XX Project and then click Edit, so i can edit it in project
profesional cause i'm a PM.
but when i choose YY Project and then click edit i dont want that resource
can edit project in project profesional even just for read only cause as far
as i know, if we are log in as team member, edit menu was disable and so they
can't edit project in project profesional.
and i want to know how to set this one?

btw thank you for your sharing knowledge

thanks

Assuming you have not changed any of the default permissions in Project
Server 2007 for Groups and/or Categories, complete the following steps:

1. Log into Project Web Access with administrator permissions.
2. Click Server Settings - Manage Categories.
3. Click the My Projects category to open it for editing.
4. In the Projects section, select the "Only the Projects Indicated" option
is selected.
5. In the Projects section, deselect the following permissions:

The User is on that project's Project Team
A resource on the project's Project Team is a descendant of the User via
RBS

5. Leave the "The User is the Project Owner or the User is the Status
Manager on assignments within that Project" permission selected.
6. Click the Save button.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

sorry for make you confuse with me with my fussiness :D
I read article
http://www.projectserverexperts.com...ts for which they are a team member only.aspx
you will found in the middle of article
"The first set of steps will now allow a PM to open Read/Write only his/her
own projects. He/she won't be able to see or open the projects in which
he/she is a team member"
i think this is what i want to do....but i dont know how to configure this?
i dont know where to set this, to make PM only to see his/her own project?

can you help me again Dale....

sorry & thanks

Dale...

i already tried like this:
1. Log with Administrator permissions
2. Server settings - Manage Categories
3. Then i choose create new category
4. Create new category name
5. in Users and Groups--- Available Users and Group Box, i choose PM names
and then add it to right box---add with PM Permissions
6. In Project Sections ---- I select Only the Projects Indicated, than in
the left box, i add Project. i.e there were 2 Projects, A Project and B
Project. I select A Project then click Add button.
7. In Apply the above project security permissions to all project where: i
only select The User is the Project Owner or the User is the Status Manager
on assignments within that Project
8. Click Save buttons

But after that, i still can view and edit/write project in Project
Professional for B Project....
is there something wrong or missing in my steps???/

thanks

I am at a complete loss as to how to help you. If you followed the steps in
this FAQ, you would have the desired result. Again, I am assuming you have
not messed around with the default permissions in Groups and Categories. It
sounds like you have changed some of these settings. I would advise you to
reset all of the permissions in Groups and/or Categories back to their
default values, and then the FAQ will work. Hope this helps.
