One schedule stops another schedule

Running 10.4.7 iMac computer, Office 2004, 11.2.3. I have two
schedules: one to send and receive mail every 5 minutes and one to
delete emails from my folders which is set t run once a week. Lately
I've noticed that when the delete schedule runs, my send and receive
does not run. I have to manually click send and receive to get it
going back to every 5 minutes. Any way to fix this? I have set up
another schedule to send and receive email every week 2 minutes after
my delete schedule runs, but this seems more like a bandaid.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You found a good workaround. It looks as if interrupting the Send & Receive
schedule turns it off. I can tell you absolutely that most schedules will
not have this effect (I have two schedules that run every minute, so they
often "cross" Send & Receive but never turn it off.) But perhaps your
"Delete" schedule operates on IMAP or Exchange folders, not just local
folders? If so, I'd suspect that contradictory commands given to the server
might trigger this behavior. Or even if they're just local folders, if one
of them includes your Deleted Items folder and you also have "Leave messages
on the server" plus "Delete messages from the server when deleted form this
computer" in Tools/Accounts/Options for a POP account, that could have the
same effect" when Send & Receive is run it will try to delete these messages
from the server at the same time as other server commands are taking place.

I don't have any options in my options folder. I thought it has worked
in the past - maybe I just now noticed it. Instead of another
schedule, I just added to my delete folder schedule to run send and
receive after deleting the emails.

Thanks again, Cheryl
