One task not using progress method

I have one task in a large project that is not using the correct server
progress method default, actual work done and work remaining.

All other task are fine, it's just one task. I have tried changing the
progress method via Customize-Published Fields for that specific task,
Republishing Assignments, nothing.

Any suggestions on could be happening? I just don't understand how one task
in a large project could be different?

Thank you in advance!

Did your organization change the default method of tracking progress in
Project Server AFTER you began tracking progress on this task? If so, the
task will continue to use the former method of tracking progress until the
task is 100% complete. Let us know if this explains your issue.

Yes, we did implement Project Server into our organization after the project
had already been started and then imported the project into project server.

But I thought that if you changed the tracking method, then republished the
assignments it would change. That did work for all of our other projects
that we imported into project server as well as the other tasks in this
particular projects? This whole project was created before project server
was available, once I imported, I republished the assignments and all change
the tracking method, except this one particular task.

Is there a way of recreating it without losing any info?

Thank you!

You are half correct. After you change the method of tracking in Project
Server, and then republish the assignments in each project, only unstarted
tasks will inherit the new method of tracking. In-progress tasks will
continue to use the former method of tracking until they are completed.

If this is a major problem on this one particular task, you could do the
following:

1. Save the project as an .mpp file
2. Ask the Project Server administrator to delete the project from the
Project Server database
3. Import the .mpp file back into Project Server
4. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select the
"Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option, and then click OK

If this project contains Risks, Issues, or Documents, ask your Project
Server administrator to refer to the following FAQ BEFORE he/she deletes the
project:

Hope this helps.
