one users ability to sort mail in outlook 2003 inbox

Hi...

Exchange 2003 sp2 with Outlook 2003 clients. One particular User/Mailbox is
having issues with sorting mail in the Inbox. On my mailbox If the mail is
sorted in received date order and I click/highlight an email and then click
on the FROM column heading the email I previously Highlighted is still
highlighted but the sort order has now changed to be grouped by "FROM" field.

On this others users mailbox, if the above is done most of the time the
highlighted email is not still selected in the "FROM" sort order. The
highlighted email becomes the first email in the Inbox. The same thing
happens with the same user on a different profile setup on a different XP PC.
Anyone any ideas as to why this is happening ??? Could it be anything to do
with the size of the mailbox ?

I suspect that on one PC, the "Show in Groups" option is selected and on the
other, it is not.

thanks for the reply Brian.

Show in groups is ticked on both PCs...

Doing some tests on the troublesome mailbox IF Show in groups is unslected
in outlook all seems to be ok with the sorting. IF show in groups is selected
then the sorting goes back to going wrong again and just goes back to the
first email in the inbox....

any idea why this happens ??

Sorry, no. I don't see the behavior you describe and can't reproduce it.

thanks for the reply Brian..

Doing some further testing on this mailbox.. With the Show in Grpups option
selected this strange sorting behavior seems to work ok with Emails that have
come from outside the company. IF u click the from column on a email where it
has come from inside the LAN (a local domain user) it then goes back to the
first email in the inbox..

Any more ideas ?
