OneNote 12 using 112 Megs RAM and 95% CPU. (dammit)

OneNote 12 is now using 112 Megs RAM and 95% CPU.
My Lord.
Any suggestions anyone ?

A restart of OneNote fixed the situation.
Hope it doesn't keep happening.

Do you have any recollection of what you were doing at the time? Inking?
Syncing?

OneNote 12 on my machine seems to run at high memory utilization but never
high CPU. Right now I have OneNote open and it is using 108MB of RAM. I've
just got a page open for note taking throughout the day. Nothing fancy.

Hi Mike,

Is this on a tablet?
Are your .one files local to the machine or stored somewhere else and
the computer you are using syncs with them?
The footprint of ON definitely shouldn't be like that. My ON for example
has been open for a bunch of hours and mem usage is at around 11 MB with
the VM size at 14 MB.

Thanks,

The following things could be expected to raise CPU usage:
- Inking
- Images (if you have a bunch of images we may still be running OCR on them
if you haven't been using OneNote long)
- Indexing lots of files (again this could take a few hours running in the
background if you haven't been using OneNote long, try letting it set open
for a while)

The 95% CPU should be low priority background thread and therefore not get
in the way of your usage (basically just using spare cycles to do these
background tasks). If that's not the case and it's interfering with your
usage at all please let us know (that would be bad behavior).

And could you let us know which of the above three things might apply to you
(or none) so we know where to look for improving efficiency.

Thanks.
