Onenote 2003

we use office 2003, Sharepoint 3.0 and Onenote 2003 with no long range
plans to upgrade to 2007. I would like to keep my files on USB drive
instead of hard drive due to the fact that I roam around quite a bit +
do lots of work @ home. Any suggestions? thanks

Upgrade to OneNote 2007.

Seriously we improved both of your scenarios:
1) Offline sync now you can make changes even if you are not connected to
SharePoint or your USB drive you can just make changes on many machines and
OneNote will sync the changes later.
2) You can directly sync notes to a USB stick and use this to transfer notes
between machines.

You can install OneNote 2007 along side Office 2003 FYI. I highly recommend
this.

Otherwise you can store your .one files on a USB drive and just have
shortcuts (in your My Notebook folder) to the individual files. Or have a
folder shortcut pointing to the folder on the USB drive.
